BMW X3 3.0i, 3.0si
SUV over $45K
Mar 01, 2007
For 2007, BMW's compact SUV undergoes subtle appearance changes both outside (primarily, redesigned bumpers and a fully painted tailgate) and inside (most obviously, a new 3-spoke steering wheel). BMW saved the best for under the hood, where Munich's new-generation 6-cylinder engine now takes up residence. Two versions of the 3.0-litre unit respectively make 215 hp in the 3.0i (up 31 over last year's 2.5) and 260 hp (up 35 over the previous 3.0) in the 3.0si. Either engine comes with 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. The X3 also hosts BMW's first installation of Dynamic Traction Control, and the Dynamic Stability Control system adopts a host of new functions to further the cause of safe and smooth motoring.
