Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class CLK350, CLK550
Sport Sedan
Mar 01, 2007
Yet again powertrain upgrades are the big news for M-B's junior two-doors, which combine hardware from various other models into their own distinctive coupe (and convertible) bodies. This time it's the turn of the V8. The CLK500 becomes CLK550 to reflect its new 382-hp, 5.5-litre V8. The 268-hp, 3.5-litre CLK350 continues. As before, there's no coupe AMG model -- odd, since the stiffer coupe body would make a better platform for high-performance suspension. Must be a marketing thing. The coupes also get feature upgrades for 2007, including heated seats, a glass sunroof and, on the V8, bi-xenon headlamps and steering-wheel shift paddles. There's also a new brakes-and-suspension Sport package for the CLK350.

It's bargain-priced compared to a Mercedes CL

No AMG model
