Mercedes calls its CLS-Class a 4-door coupe. We're not sure how that works, but don't really care anyway, thanks to the car's stunning lines. All sweeping curves and high shoulders, the CLS is one of the sexiest designs from Stuttgart in recent memory. The theme continues inside, with a one-piece wood dash, more curves and leather everywhere. The styling does have a drawback, though -- it makes rear-seat access difficult, and generally cuts into cabin room. Being based on the E-Class, CLS gets the same new engines for 2007: a 382-hp, 5.5-litre V8 in the CLS550 (formerly CLS500); and the new AMG 6.2-litre V8, here producing 507 hp, in the illogically named CLS63 AMG.
Sexier than most coupes, now with serious power
Styling hurts practicality, pricier than E-Class
