New colours, a new 17-inch wheel option, and standard tire-pressure monitoring -- that's all the news for this year's edition of the Oshawa-built midsizer. Oh, and a new OnStar-based turn-by-turn navigation system (which saves the cost of CD-based maps) is optional. G-P's piece de resistance remains the GXP, powered by a 5.3-litre, 303-hp V8 using GM's Active Fuel Management cylinder-deactivation technology to save fuel. Unusually, GXP has larger front tires than rears, to reduce understeer. The front-driver does suffer some torque steer, but the standard TAPshift wheel-mounted shift paddles can be worked for a sub-six-second 0-100 km/h time. The venerable 3800 V6, in 200-hp or supercharged 260-hp versions, powers the base and GT models respectively.
You can get it with a V8 for well under $40,000
Rear seat not very hospitable for adults
