Available as a hatchback or wagon, the Korean-built 2007 Optra has two new option packages for 2007: Safety (ABS, side airbags, tire-pressure monitoring); and RS (15-inch alloys, spoiler, 8-speaker audio with steering-wheel controls). Optra's 119-hp 2.0-litre engine remains ho-hum by class standards, and the handling is rather torpid (though nothing that can't be cured with sportier tires). But there are compensations: the cabin is one of the roomiest in its class; the ride is exceptionally pliant; and braking is by four-wheel discs. Standard gear on the base LS includes AM/FM/CD/MP3, a tach, variable-intermittent wipers and a 60/40 folding rear seat. The LT adds A/C, power windows and locks, power heated mirrors, and cruise control.
