Ford Focus ZX5 SES
Economy
Mar 01, 2007
Focus is one of the few compact hatchbacks to be available in both 3- and 5-door versions. If you want the latter, however, be prepared to pay, because it only comes in loaded SES form. Among items standard on these SES models are anti-lock brakes and fog lamps. The only available engine is the likeable 136-hp, 2.0-litre base unit, mated to either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. Focus strengths include one of the segment's best blends of ride and handling, and a roomy, comfortable back seat. Cargo room is above average with the seats up, even more so with them folded. For '07, there's a rally-inspired GFX wheels-'n-spoilers package and the available 6-CD/MP3 player includes steering-wheel controls.

Well sorted out, pleasant to drive
