Ferrari 575M Maranello Superamerica
Published on
Mar 01, 2006
A new 620-hp 599GTB will soon replace the Maranello, which until then continues in Superamerica convertible guise. It's really more like a Targa, in which the glass roof panel rotates backwards to rest on the rear deck between a pair of flying buttresses. The Superamerica is propelled by a 5.75-litre Ferrari V12 engine, which makes 533 horsepower. Transmission on this classic front-engine, rear-drive supercar is a six-speed in either conventional manual or F1-type automatically shifted forms. Base suspension is softer than on the old 550 version, but there's a hard-core handling package for those who want it.
Gorgeous, well made, and did we mention fast?
Ferrari V12 doesn't sound as electrifying as it used to
