Porsche Boxster Boxster, Boxster S

Published on Mar 01, 2006

After a comprehensive remodeling for 2005, Porsche's beautifully balanced roadster stays the course for 2006. The base and S models are respectively powered by 2.7-litre, 240-hp and 3.2-litre, 280-hp versions of the classic Porsche boxer six. A six-speed manual tranny is standard on the S and optional on base (which otherwise has a five-speed) or either engine can be paired to a five-speed Tiptronic autobox. The engines sound wonderful and are impeccably smooth, while delivering useful low- and mid-range torque, and the shifter is a sweetheart. With its roomy and richly furnished cabin, standard stability control and available hardtop, this is a two-seat roadster that you could drive all year round.

Wonderfully balanced car in every sense of the word

Can get pricey if you check all the option boxes
