Pontiac Vibe

Published on Mar 01, 2007

If you're already set on a Vibe for 2007, the decision as to which model just got easier. Gone from the range, due to slow sales, is the 118-hp all-wheel drive version. Gone, too, is the sporty GT, because its high-revving 164-hp engine had issues with new emission standards. That leaves just the front-drive Vibe, powered by a fuel-efficient 126-hp, 1.8-litre engine with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. Like its platform twin, the Toyota Matrix, Vibe rides and handles well and is extremely roomy for its size. The rear-seat backrest folds completely flat, and so does the front passenger-seat backrest. There's a 115V outlet in the dash. The driving position, however, may not suit everybody.

Stylish, roomy and practical at a reasonable price

Alternative powertrains have been discontinued
