Calabogie on track

Canada’s largest racetrack recently opened in Calabogie, Ont., a ski and vacation area about an hour west of Ottawa. Penned by world-renowned track designer, Alan Wilson of Wilson Motorsports Inc. (who helped with Le Circuit Mont Tremblant’s redevelopment), Calabogie MotorSports Park is the first road course of this size to be constructed in Canada in more than 30 years. According to the track’s webpage, www.calabogiemotorsports.com, paving was originally scheduled for 2004, but zoning issues meant asphalt could only be laid late this past summer. Aimed at clubs and weekend racers (at least initially), the 5.05 km course encompasses 23 turns and 65 feet of elevation changes. Calabogie is now accepting bookings.
