Saturn Relay 1, 2, 3
Published on
Mar 01, 2007
Like its GM mid-van siblings, Relay loses its AWD model for 2007, but last year's optional 3.9-litre, 240-hp V6 is now standard, replacing the previous base 3.5-litre, 201-hp unit. The torque-rich 3.9 should help put the GM vans on even terms with their various 240ish-hp rivals, though the transmission is still only a 4-speed. Other aspects of the GM vans' dynamics are already quite competitive. Relay's Achilles Heel is the inability of the third-row seat to "disappear" into the floor, though it and the second-row seats can be removed. Unlike its Chev and Pontiac siblings, Relay comes only in extended-wheelbase form. Stability control is now standard on all, and dual-zone climate control is a new option on Relay3.
