Acura RL, Elite

Published on Mar 01, 2007

Perhaps the cozy rear cabin explains why the RL remains a bit-player in its segment. Certainly, based on the driving experience and the luxury quotient, this car deserves to sell much better than it does. And pricing changes for 2007 may help make that happen. Acura has slashed the base price by $5,600, while adding an Elite package at last year's standard price. Elite add-ons include a Collision Mitigation Braking System, adaptive cruise control, active headlamps, ventilated front seats and genuine curly maple trim. Powered by a smooth and strong 3.5-litre V6, the RL's pice de resistance remains the SH-AWD technology that it pioneered (and a form of which is now appearing on Acura's SUVs).

Full-on luxury with surprising athleticism

Not especially roomy, particularly in the rear
