This month, during the 37th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event in Scottsdale, Ariz., Carroll Shelby will put his 1969 GT500 convertible, which he has owned since new, on the auction block at no reserve. It is the only Ford-based Shelby Mustang that he has owned continually since it rolled off the assembly line. The only other Shelby he’s owned longer is the first Cobra, the CSX2000, says Barrett-Jackson. The Cobra Jet-powered red convertible was recently professionally restored and has only 69,725 miles on its odo. The car will be sold on the same weekend as Shelby’s 85th birthday.
