Still fresh from its change of ownership, Chrysler LLC announced recently that it will “make volume-related reductions at several of its North American assembly and powertrain plants,” and eliminate four products from its line-up, along with a number of jobs. The Chrysler PT Cruiser convertible and Crossfire, along with the Canadian-built Pacifica and Dodge Magnum all face the axe. Vice chairman Tom LaSorda said the automaker had “to move now” to adjust the way it looks and acts in a smaller market. The good news is, in the same timeframe as the cutbacks, Chrysler will add the new Dodge Challenger and Journey, along with Chrysler Aspen and Dodge Durango hybrid models.
