Nov 01, 2006
Peter Schreyer, former chief designer for Audi and VW — responsible for such notable designs as the first Audi TT, the R8 Le Mans car, both current Lamborghinis and the Concept 1 which lead to the New Beetle — has taken a newly created role as chief design officer at Kia Motors Corporation. Schreyer, 53, is overseeing domestic and international design through studios in Frankfurt, L.A., Tokyo and Namyang, Korea. The post is largest assignment the award-winning, German-born designer has tackled thus far. Having left a 12-year career at VW, Schreyer is now charged with molding a long-term “unique and consistent design lineage,” for Kia globally.
