Please Canadian automotive gurus, PM Harper, industry officials, and all powers that be: Do not allow the Google/Gilbarco Veeder-Root (navigation system) gas pumps into Canada — unless they start using Mapquest. Or maybe until Google fixes the boondoggle that is Google Maps.

I just checked today. Google Maps says it is 54.6 km from my house to our local town house. Maybe I should join our Olympic team, as I can walk there in less than five minutes.

I sent them the correction in 2006, and it seemed to be fixed. Since January 2007, however, I’ve been told I’m still 54.6 km away. Google says they use information from two large mapping firms (whose maps were correct when I checked) and third-party sources.
