Here’s a grainy image of the new Smart ForTwo. Get it? Grainy? Sand. Grainy? Oh, never mind. Pictured is Smart’s funky way of unveiling its new ForTwo city car before it hit the auto show circuit. The DaimlerChrysler-owned brand commissioned Pavel Zasanyok, a three-time sand sculpture world champion from Russia, to build the car from special sand during the German beach volleyball championships in Timmendorf. The sand Fortwo marks the first time the new model’s styling has been seen publicly. The new two-seater goes on sale next spring. It took Zasanyok a week to create the sculpture, in the face of rain and harsh Baltic Sea winds.
